Ukrainian Model Arrested in Bali for Alleged Nude Content Production
DENPASAR – The reputation of Indonesia’s tourism sector, particularly in Bali, has once again been tarnished by the actions of a foreign visitor. Recently, a Ukrainian woman named Valeriia Reviakina, 24, was found to have produced explicit pornographic content in Ubud, Gianyar, Bali.
Instead of being a well-behaved international tourist, Reviakina’s actions contribute to a growing list of foreign nationals engaging in criminal activities in Bali. These range from illegal business practices, vehicle rentals, photography services, surf instruction, theft, assault, prostitution, drug dealing, and even murder.
Reviakina is alleged to have filmed a pornographic video at a villa in Ubud. The five-minute-and-thirty-second video shows her in the bathroom of the villa, and it was later uploaded to the international pornographic site PornHub.
According to immigration authorities in Denpasar, Reviakina’s profile was discovered on PornHub under the username @mrsdoberXXX. Upon confirming her identity, the Bali Immigration Office conducted an investigation and determined that Reviakina, who holds passport GB090XXX, was still in Bali.
“There are strong suspicions that Valeriia is a Ukrainian model involved in the production of adult content for an international platform, and that she made explicit videos at a villa in Ubud,” said a source from Denpasar Immigration.
Reviakina was arrested without resistance at the Rice Field Sayan Villa in Ubud by a team from Denpasar Immigration on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at approximately 11:30 a.m. Authorities confiscated evidence, including her mobile phone and sex toys. Reviakina admitted to producing and uploading the content to an adult website.
“She holds an investor visa (KITAS) and was apprehended while packing her belongings, apparently preparing to flee after her actions were discovered. She had already purchased a ticket but was caught in time,” the source added.
The actions of foreign tourists in Bali often leave locals puzzled. Despite Bali’s reputation as a unique, sacred, and mysterious global tourist destination, its culture of hospitality is frequently misinterpreted. The permissiveness of Balinese society, where visitors are treated with respect, is sometimes wrongly taken as a free pass to act without regard for local norms and traditions.
“Many tourists believe they can do anything in Bali, seeing it as a paradise of freedom. But when their behavior crosses the line, violating local customs and laws, they face deportation and, in some cases, a permanent ban from returning,” the source concluded.
When asked for confirmation, I Nengah Sukadana, Head of Public Relations and Technology Information Reform, confirmed the arrest, stating, “Yes, it is true, but I need to verify further details.”
In a separate press release from the Directorate General of Immigration, it was reported that by the third quarter of 2024, 378 foreign nationals had been deported from Bali. This represents an increase from 2023, when 335 foreign nationals were deported by various immigration offices across Bali, including Ngurah Rai, Denpasar, and Singaraja, as well as the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center.
During this period, the Denpasar Immigration Detention Center carried out the highest number of deportations, with 203 individuals sent back to their countries.
