Jetstar Turns Back to Bali After Passenger Tries to Open Door
DENPASAR – A Jetstar flight carrying 200 passengers from Bali to Melbourne was forced to turn back after a disruptive passenger attempted to forcibly open the aircraft door mid-flight over the Indian Ocean. The incident occurred on Monday night (31/3/2025).
The passenger, a woman seated at the rear of the plane, was also reportedly aggressive toward the cabin crew. Jetstar confirmed the event in an official statement.
“Our flight returned to Denpasar (Bali airport) last night after a disruptive passenger attempted to open one of the aircraft doors and acted aggressively toward our crew,” Jetstar stated, as quoted by detikNews on Wednesday (2/4/2025).
A viral video circulating on social media captured the moment when the pilot issued a warning over the intercom before the passenger managed to lift the door handle. Local authorities in Bali escorted the individual off the aircraft once it landed back in Denpasar.
According to flight tracking website Flightradar24, the plane turned around approximately an hour after takeoff.
Jetstar reaffirmed its strict policy against behavior that endangers flight safety.
“The safety and well-being of our customers and crew are our top priorities, and we appreciate their response to this situation,” the airline stated.
“Unacceptable behavior like this will never be tolerated on our flights,” Jetstar added.
