Australian Tourist Airlifted After Jet Ski Accident in Bali
KLUNGKUNG — Two foreign tourists were injured in a jet ski accident at Kelingking Beach, located in Klungkung Regency, Bali, on Monday, April 7, 2025, around 1:00 PM local time.
The victims were identified as Nassor Khalid Mussa (28), an Australian national, and Khateb Fatme Hassan (32) from Tanzania. The accident occurred when their jet ski was struck by large waves while they were out at sea.
At the time of the incident, the pair had stopped to take selfies on their jet ski. This momentary distraction caused them to lose control, and a sudden wave hit the vehicle, pushing it dangerously close to the cliffs.
Amri Yunus Rosyidi, a tour guide accompanying the tourists, had previously warned them to stay away from the cliffs due to the strong currents. Unfortunately, panic set in, and Nassor and Khateb were unable to regain control of the jet ski.
Witnessing the situation unfold, Amri attempted a rescue but was also hit by a wave, which capsized his jet ski and swept him into the sea.
Both Nassor and Khateb managed to swim toward the shore, where other beachgoers rushed to assist. Authorities, including the local police and Bali’s SAR team, were immediately alerted.
Nassor sustained injuries to his neck and was airlifted to a hospital in Denpasar at approximately 3:30 PM. Khateb, who suffered only minor injuries, is currently resting at the jet ski company’s office.
Amri, who remained adrift for some time, was eventually rescued by emergency responders. He sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital in Klungkung for treatment.
The jet ski involved in the accident has since been retrieved and taken to the company’s base in Lembongan.
Police spokesperson AKP Agus Widiono from Klungkung Police stated that authorities will continue monitoring the victims’ conditions and reinforce safety compliance across tourist water activity areas.
“This incident is a reminder of the importance of vigilance and adherence to safety instructions when engaging in ocean activities,” he said.
