Australian Woman Found Dead in Bali Hotel Room
BADUNG – The discovery of an Australian woman’s body in a hotel on Jalan Pantai Kuta, Badung, Bali, has left guests and staff in shock. The deceased, identified as Pauline Mary Cannon, 67, was found lifeless in the bathtub of her hotel room on Monday morning.
According to a statement from AKP Ketut Sukadi, spokesperson for the Denpasar Police Department, the body was discovered around 6:40 AM local time. The incident came to light when the hotel’s duty manager, Rachmad Soenaryo, received a report from housekeeping staff about water flooding from room 2320.
Attempts were made to contact the room via phone, but there was no response. Concerned, Rachmad notified the security and engineering teams, who went to the room. After several failed attempts to open the door, which was double-locked from the inside, they eventually managed to gain entry using a master key.
Once inside, the team found water flooding the room and discovered the body of the guest submerged in the bathtub. “The witness entered the bathroom and saw the foreign guest lying in the bathtub,” Sukadi explained.
The victim was found in a partially submerged position, with the faucet still running and water overflowing into the room. Hotel staff immediately contacted medical personnel, who confirmed that the woman had passed away. The police were also informed.
Preliminary investigations revealed no signs of foul play. “There were no indications of violence on the victim’s body. She was found wearing a dark pink shirt and light pink shorts,” Sukadi added.
Personal belongings, including clothes, a mobile phone, and various medications, were found in the room. It is suspected that Cannon may have died due to an underlying medical condition.
The family of the deceased has declined an autopsy. The body has since been transferred to the morgue at Prof. Dr. I.G.N. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar for further processing.
